Special requirements for repair procedures of Boilers and Pressure Vessels were outlined in a note on "R Stamp Welding" published (11) in Issue 54 of Practical Welding Letter for February 2008. Click on PWL#054 to read it.
Please note that it would be a mistake to try to repair anything without at least knowing essential information on the Material involved and on its condition. Our page on Material Identification may be useful to acquire such understanding.
In difficult cases it may be imperative to devise alternative procedures, not involving welding, to salvage items that might be damaged by welding beyond repair.
